Thank you very much for the heads up.
-
Oh boy...you writers need to slow down with all these new books coming out at once I'm gonna go broke in a hurry!
On a more serious note, this looks like a really nice addition to any Gun Builder's Library.
-
If I'm not mistaken, that is Martin Shell, Kindig #117, on the cover. I can't wait to see the exhibit and get the book!
-
is there a phone number, to call for ordering?
-
I've been asked to take credit cards for payment of the book--which Eastwind does not accept - however we can accept PayPal payments to eastwind@hughes.net for the new Lancaster Rifle book. The same price applies: $65.00 + $5.00 shipping in USA. Shipping of the book begins March 12, 2012.
And the Lancaster Long Rifle Exhibit opens this Sunday at the Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum in Lancaster where books are available.
-
how long will show go on for?
-
The exhibit opens on March 11th and will continue through December 31, 2012. On Sunday March 11 the exhibit is open from noon until 5:00 PM. There is no admission charge on Sunday March 11, 2012. On other days it will be $12 adults and $10 seniors.

I saw the exhibit last night: it is terrific!! Beautiful reproductions in the catalog as well. Congratulations to all involved.

Hope they have a good supply of books. I'll be there pretty soon.

The books were going quickly last night but I am sure they have stacks and stacks and stacks ... -- Scott

Got mine yesterday. Thanks for the quick service. Extremely well laid out. Super photo quality. Now I must have the Berks County book!!!
-
Picked up a copy at the Baltimore Antique Arms show today, great book!
-
Was at the Baltimore gun show, went on up to Landis Farm museum in Lancaster Sunday (only 80 miles from Baltimore). Fantastic show - probably the best collection in that small a space of longrifles as I have ever seen. Well arranged to allow viewing from all sides. Picked up the book there - signed by both authors.
-
Got my copy 2 days ago. This is a beautifully done book - everything about it is first rate. A must have ... Can't wait to see the exhibit in person.
-
Arrived in the mail today. Magnificent!
-
I'll pick my copy at the Log Cabin Saturday. They have some on hand as of last Saturday..

Mine arrived yesterday. I must say I was very impressed. It's one of those "Must Haves".
-
I'll look into getting one.
Now, if only someone would do a good picture book on Lehigh guns....
-
I was wondering if the book is still available?
-
I received my copy as an early fathers day gift from my wife! As an old editor, myself, I found a few errors, but overall a great book with many fine rifles and other guns. One glaring 'error' is on the pages with the first Fordney gun illustrated [don't have book with me to give page]--the close-up of the fluted nosecap is of a different gun! This is not remarked upon in the text. Also on another page the word 'abated' is used where I can only assume 'abetted' was meant. There are a couple more...But, nit-picking aside, I like the book very much.

You have a good eye, Mike. The Fordney rifle is on pages 80-81 and has an octagonal barrel. The nosecap closeup is on a round barrel. I would have to assume the nosecap picture is from the Fordney fowler on pages 104-105. Unfortunately there are more glaring errors if you know the history of the area.

To save time I could give a list of all of the many embarrassing typos and possible mistakes in historical dating, but I suspect this site does not want to get that jammed up with such information. In writing the book and at the same time publishing it I often think it best to just do one or the other. A good publisher would have caught the Fordney photo goof, albeit the caps on both rifle and fowler do indeed look the same which is exactly why the art designer didn't catch it.
I know of at least 3-4 typos, a wrong date and some bad type connections, but keep em coming as we may not have caught them all.. it improves our downstream efforts.

Got mine today. It is already my favorite!! Mike New

My wife bought a copy of this book for my Christmas present. Love it, very detailed color photos and enough measurement information to plan from. My only fault with the books is there are no top or bottom views.
I just read on Landis Valley Museum site that the gun exhibit has been extended till June 2013, so if you haven't seen it and want to, you still have time.
-
Are these books still available?
-
They still had copies for sale at Landis Valley on March 10th.
-
If anyone has one and would like to part with it or knows where I can find one, please contact me. I need to find a copy.
