Tim is one of our ALR moderators and was too modest to post this so I am posting it here for your info. Also a copy of it in the Events forum that will stay there until the event takes place.

Traditional Hunting Pouch Construction class with TC Albert
Date and location: May 6-7, 2013, NMLRA Education Building, Friendship, IN
In this two day class you will learn many of the old time leather working and pouch making techniques by studying a variety of original pouches. Then you learn how to apply these techniques to your own pouch making. Besides the hands on individual instruction in professional style pouch construction from one of today’s top traditional pouch makers, each student will be provided with everything needed to make their own authentic hunting pouch, including precut leather pieces and strapping, harness needles, waxed linen cord, a proper leather awl, and a strap buckle.
Topics covered in the two day seminar will include traditional pouch design, authentic construction techniques, materials, finishes and the use of traditional leather working tools. Besides the collection of original pouches and accoutrements, an extensive working collection of antique leather tools will be available for the class to study as well. Class fee, which includes materials, is $175.00.
To register, contact the NMLRA, 1.812.667.5131 , nmlraevents@seidata.com, www.nmlra.org

Seems like a great deal for anyone that wants to learn traditional technique. A real bargain when you consider its a 2 day class and you build your own bag... Wish a opportunity like this was available when I first got started...

Doesn't matter HOW long you've been doing ANYTHING,A class will NEVER hurt.
I'm a 30+year leather worker and took Ken Scott's class 2 years ago,You dont ever get so good you cant learn anything more! Ken even learned a thing or 2 also! My Grandfather who came here from Poland in '18 alway's told us that we must learn AT LEAST 1 thing a day.
I'm having Chuck Burrow's make a sheath for my H.House knife. I have a great sheath that I made for this knife, but I LOVE Chuck's work!
I plan on taking T/C's class too! I LOVE to learn! Who know's,maybe one day mine will be good enough to sell! LOL ;D
I have NO ego that need's to be stroked.

Should be a good class. The only ones who can't learn from a class are those with a closed mind.

Dennis, modest isn't the word for the very humble Tim Albert. He is such a wealth of knowledge and it doesn't stop with just hunting pouches and their accouterments. He is so talented and always ready to help out in every way he can. I have been making pouches for a long time, but I would love to take this class if I were a little closer. He is a prince of a guy and I'm glad to call him my friend. Kind Regards Frank Barker

Was the class canceled?
-
Sadly yes...I just found out the end of last week...
needed a full dozen students to make it go, and didnt get them pre-registered in time...(30 days in advance) However, they said they would like me to try again.
the good folks at the NMLRA think the days were a bad choice and that I need to
tie it onto a bigger shoot or other event...thats my fault as I picked the days. Many folks were interested, but said they couldnt take off work and travel just for a 2 day class, especially on week days unless there was another event going on as well....
It wouldnt be quite the same, but Id be happy to try and do something on a person to person basis on line via email...I have all the leather etc, and was going to provide a full set of pieces to make the bag on the cover of the book...I thought about still cutting them all out and offering them up as kits...
I apologize...

Tim,
No need to apologize,... The Stars and the Moon don't always line up the way we plan. ;)
On your part... It was great that you made the effort ! Thanks for trying.
-
Agreed, thanks Tim! Maybe during the spring shoot? Fall shoot? I'll be at one or the other.
-
One day I will make the trip to attend one of your classes...
-
Thanks a million guys, I sincerely appreciate it...

Was lookin' forward to meeting the guy under the straw hat! ;D

I was signed up, had my vacation days scheduled and was counting the days! Then I got the call that it was canceled!
I sure hope there is a next time!!

I'm sorry Tony...I'm in exactly the same boat...
As for meeting the guy under the straw hat, you all realize I picked that
hat cause it best represents the stuffin' between my ears don't 'ya? ;D
thanks again for all the kind words...sincerely,

I knew there was a reason! LOL! Guess that's why I dont wear one!
-
No need for you to apologize..... Still scratching my head as to why it would be so hard fill that class and have a chance to learn from one of the best. IMHO

I think it was just a schedule thing. The cost of the class was very reasonable! Maybe with another 1000 years of practice,I'll help teach a class!
Any chance of doing it during a national event?
-
Yes...I think they may want me to try it for one of the big shoots...
That might work out a lot better..

Mr. Albert,
If you happen to teach a class in the northeast I can say I would likely attend.
-
I think it was the middle of the week thing that got many. If it had been on the weekend during one of the big shoots, or even just on a weekend I'm sure it would have filled up fast.
