Title: Rifle Rack
Post by: bads1buell on September 30, 2014, 07:34:26 PM
Anyone have a set of plans or pictures of your rendezvous rifle racks? I am wanting to build one but need some ideas first. Interested in the self standing type with four legs.

Thanks

When you say "rendezvous rifle rack" I assume you are referring to an outdoor rifle rack. My clubs racks are just a rectangular frame with notches in the top to accept rifle barrels. I would suggest a board angled across the back from corner to corner to keep the thing from getting loose.

I am referring to a standing rack with dow rods to hold the rifles. Usually has a piece of rope near the bottom to keep them from overextending.

Maybe something like this would work.

Go to the opening picture for T.V.M., Matt Avance and look at the picture of the rifle rack that he has.

Here's one I made for a gun show display.  It has some plus and negative features...it holds lots of guns, but it is top heavy, and there's a potential tip over if some ham-fisted lookyloo comes along.  Luckily, I did not have such an experience, but I was always on my guard.

I made mine something like TVM made theirs, only I used three 1" pine square stock 6 Feet long and drilled them for dowels. mine holds 8 Longrifles and folds for easy carry.

Here's one I made for a gun show display... always on my guard.

Nice rack, but i couldn't have it that close to the edge.  no way no how.  I'd have to add some way to clamp/bolt/nail it securely to the table.

Your mettle is greater than mine!  ;)

I sometimes show & sell guns at rondyvoo. This was my original rack I attached to an upright pole on my fly. I have since added grommets to one edge of my fly and added extensions to the rack. Now they are held in place by the grommets that are roped & pegged. It holds 7 rifles in front & some bows in the back and is very stable.

Very effective rack Keb..I'm seeing a nice looking Hawken rifle at the bottom thereof.

Are you looking for a vertical rifle rack or a horizontal rifle rack.  I have seen some nice vertical storage ones.  Best part on that style is that rifles can be held upright on both sides, while the width can be smaller than a horizontal rack.
