Title: First Post/A Flat Horn
Post by: Curtis Makamson on November 02, 2017, 03:23:05 PM
The first post is always scary. There is a heck of a lot of hesitation about placing photos of my work among those of more accomplished artisans.  Nonetheless, here are photos of a smallish flattened horn.  The carving is minimal.  The base plug is oak.  The stopper was turned from a hard wood dowel.  The engraving is more of a contemporary style featuring a couple of Gulf Coast residents.  It was primarily done using a stippling technique.  My wife says the crab looks like the Darth Vader version.  Thanks for looking.

Curtis... Your flattened horn is very nice. I love the layout and design. Your stippling or scrimshaw is is exceptional. If you are just a beginner my friend I can't wait til you get another year under your belt.

Kind Regards

Wow I love your art work. It takes my back to being a kid walking around with a bucket and a crab net nutzing around the salt marshes and docks. I'm normally not a fan of contemporary art on horns, this time I love it. BJH
