This one is about 12 1/2" around the outside curve and 9 1/2 Tip-to-tip. The Walnut butt is held in with Four groups of Two wooden pegs each, it is hollowed out about 3/4s its thickness. A Square headed nail is in place for the strap, bent over in the hollow.
The horn was very think to start and White, tried to keep the snake White for the contrast, it easily stands 1/8" above the body. Color is Brown dye and Brown shoe polish.

Now that's cool! At first I thought you heated a flat piece of horn and wrapped it around the horn body.
-
That is cool! Was this horn at Dixon's?
-
I’d get the heebie jeebies every time I grabbed the horn! What the heck is it with you and snakes lately?
-
Thats wicked, i like the tounge plug!
-
Hey don't encourage him, next will be a cobra or some such ;D :D Then then come the spiders i.e a black widow as she devours her mate ;D
-
Fantastic. Great carving. Great color. Great concept. Two thumbs up.
-
I knew he was getting close to the end of making 3000 of every standard type horn! Super neat work!
-
Neat horn, Tim. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

No, I just finished it up this morning.

Thanks for the positive comments. There is another something crawling around my head, have to wait and see how it makes its way out.
This one has been laying around in the shop for months, now that I think about it over a year maybe more.

So a tomahawk wasn't good enough, eh? ;D That is pretty cool, Tim. Nice work and very creative.
-
Very nice Tim! It would sure compliment your tomahawk. I admire your work and am inspired by it. You have a very creative and fertile mind and the skills and abilities to bring your “visions” to fruition. Please continue to share your work.

Tim,
Between the hawk and this horn, you're way over the top. Great imagination and interpretation.

Pretty cool!!! Some might think your work has taken somewhat of a Freudian turn. ::)

That's one of the coolest horns I've ever seen.
-
Nice horn,...not sure if you made them to be together but it and the tomahawk look like a pair to me.

"That's one of the coolest horns I've ever seen."
What Hanshi said.
-
Wow. I recently had a horn that was probably thick enough for that, but I’d never have thought of it... :o. Now you just need a bag with some timber rattler hide to complete the trifecta!

It is creative work, well executed; but you will have to excuse me if I am not thrilled with the subject. I really do hate snakes. I would certainly never want one on my powder horn. What is it about snakes that I have seen them on a lot of work lately?
