A heart felt thanks to Jim and his "how to" videos. Here is my humble submission of his Colonial rifle kit. It is bone stock 50 cal, extra fancy maple, round bottom rifling. Finished with aquafortis, wipe on poly (i know), and wax. Plan on this being my deer rifle.

Looks beautiful!

That's a very lovely rifle! The beauty of Jim's kits is first: all of the correct architecture is there - you end up with a credible rifle without study or personal skill. Second: the fitting is so close it's difficult to make a mistake, and Third: the components right down to the choice of wood are top shelf so you end up with a valuable, HC, and accurate rifle.
Nicely done, and thanks for showing us.

Great job the pride you will have toting that in the woods will be only seconded when you harvest a deer with it.. Good luck to you

Of course I heard it here, but one of my constant montra's while building is "Don't make a 500 dollar rifle out of a 1,000 dollar kit!!!
Thanks everyone!!

Very nice. What treatment did you do on the metal?
-
Jim sells a brass patina solution. Just did about 3 treatments with that. Wipe on, let sit about 20 minutes in our VERY humid conditions, and then lightly rub with scotch brite pad (X3). Then a few coats of paste wax.
