Greetings muleskinner,

Mark De Haas has built barrels for years, and I have found them to be very good shooters....  Mark worked at H&H barrels and learned his trade well, H&H barrels are still winning at the shoots, although they are no longer in business.

                                                                                               Best wishes
                                                                                               mgcrumster

I've owned several & all are excellent shooters.  Nicer people cannot be found.  Mark, himself, is an incredibly accomplished shooter.  I would not hesitate to buy the barrel!

I have built 2 guns using Marks barrels,  a .58 and a .40, both are great shooters, you may find a barrel as good as Marks but you won't find one better!!

I had Mark reproduce a barrel for an original Ohio rifle I had and he was awesome to work with. We talked for a long time and he asked a lot of questions to make sure I got what I needed, and the barrel was perfect and shot like a dream. Highly recommended

I have been using Mark's barrels for more than 10 years. Never a problem.

Thats what the wife has on her .32 pistol.  It's won the Nationals 5 times now. We live about
50 miles from Mark & Linda. I will say out of all our barrels, it feels the most uniform when you
push the ball down.

Another advantage of Mark DeHaas barrels is that they are so easy to smooth up prior to browning or bluing. Some barrel metal is stringy and prone to clog the file during draw-filing. Mark's barrels really accept drawfiling well.

Mike , Don`t feel like the lone ranger!!! It was NOT Mr. DeHaas  , I`ve heard nothing but good about his barrels. I ordered a Custom barrel years ago from a well known barrel maker , when I saw him at a show later on he couldn't remember the order or the $100 deposit I put down. Now I only use those barrels when someone has one they want to use.

I'm not even remotely worried about those barrels nor do I hold it against DeHass...this is just the way the ML business works. I never put money down on parts, you might as well just give that money to your favorite charity. :P
I mostly work with Hoyt and am just beginning to do a little more business with Rice.

I have had 5 of marks barrels over the years and all were great and consistent shooters. I'm not sure if he is still making barrels though.

Going with that thread,I refused to take up front pay for any locks or triggers.
If deposits are taken, make sure they are noted as to date and amount or later
a problem can arise.Just ask any gun maker who has had legal trouble over
not delivering after taking a large deposit. That is a fools choice so avoid it.

The first couple of years when I first started shooting ML I was at the State of Iowa shoot with my Lyman GPR.  I certainly was not in the winners circle, but took note of those that were.  Mark and his wife used to come to these shoots and I got to know them a little bit.  Mark always did well shooting if I remember right and the guy that seemed to win quite a bit told me he was shooting Mark's barrels.

Did not take me long to order my first barrel from him, and I have several now.

Mark and his wife were always great to deal with and I do like their barrels.

I have won a few matches with Marks barrels.

I saw Mark last fall at a chunk match, he has slowed down and not taking any new orders. His wife said he might have a few barrels on hand of what he has been tinkering with that are for sale, but that is it. She said they weren't too sure if they were going to buy any more steel to keep going. Over the years I am glad I bought what I did when I did.
Super nice folks, great barrels.

I also can give the Dehaas barrels a ***** rating. I have one that is 3/4 x .32cal that is quite capable of dislocating the jaws of those tree rats consistently. Mark was also a pleasure to do business with. He only made straight barrels though. Mikeh

I've used a lot of Marks straight Tapered barrels over the years

Sure wish he was still making them
