Check your email. I sent info on contacting a member of the Plott family.

Thank you and from what I can see he is a class act, and very close to my wifes good friend whom she visits.  Her friend resides in Yadkinville.  This could be possible if he has a dog for primitive trekking and considers me an appropriate owner.

Brett, didn't see that your request for info was also posted here. Bob Plott told me that he had already talked to Dennis about your wanting a Plott dog. Bob's the point of contact on this for sure.

Have any feral hogs up where you're going trekking? If so, get ready! A Plott will catch 'em  Grin

I will reiterate what I said on that forum. The dog is, very kind and very teachable. Not scared of men either (somewhat surprising for a rescue). If you've got a bloodline fetish, go with the name brand I guess; otherwise there are plenty of dogs like that one available in pounds across the NC/VA piedmont.

Check coonhoundrescue.com    Great people.

Plus, you get to save a dog.

We got a sweet little Black and Tan female through them.

I don't trek, but we're out in the woods every weekend.  She hikes, swims, skiis, or showshoes with us all year long.

Hound dogs is good people!!

Thanks Guys I think I got some good leads. One hound in central Va and Bob Plott's contact info also.  This is a good forum for support all around.  Why don't I run into people like this during my daily routine??

I don't know if you have gotten this info before...but there is the plottdogs.com website and the smithdealsociety.com website.  These are two great sites if you are interested in Plotts and hunting them.  I run a pack of Plotts on bear here in NC...and they are great dogs...great with my labs, kids, and strangers...but on game they are pure heck!!  Bob Plott is a heck of a good guy and will be able to set you up.  He has written a great book called "Strike and Stay-The History of the Plott Hound" which is a wonderful historical read on Appalachia and the dogs.  I don't have any pups now, but hope to in the next year.  Good luck!!

Thanks Teun, I have just put a new ACL in my chesapeake bay and waiting for him to heal up and then look for Plott.  I will keep you in mind if you do come up with a litter next year.

His books are really great!  and to brag a little the Cables who are mentioned in the book as being involved with the Plotts and their dogs and development  are indeed my direct line ancestors.
wish i could have one of those dogs myself.

I'll second the review of Bob Plott's book. It is very well done.
