That is exactly what I'm talking about.  I have one only the end is made of brass and the balls slide out to a stop in the brass and you roll them out with your thumb.  I tried to put a picture of it in this but it wouldn't work.

Cahill2, go to the tutorials to learn how to post.  You can't post directly, but it's easy once you learn how.

I'm going to move this over to the accourterments forum - perhaps soem of the people over there will have a better knowledge of the 'duck-bill' bags.

I have made these before, just never heard them called that.  All I did was sew double thickness of leather at the mouth, balls are pushed in and to get them out you need to press the two sides to make the opening.

I can't find any pictures but I think I can imagine what you are saying.  It would be a cool idea.  Must be some pictures somewhere.

I think this what Coreyjoe is talking about.  The body is 3-4 oz veg tan the doublers at the neck are 8 oz.

Not nearly as cool as the one posted by Larry Pletcher, but it works.

Those double flat spring gizmos are still used to some extent in tobacco pouches. I saw a couple at a flea market about a year ago, and knew I should have picked them up. Dumb decision on my part.

PLetch,
I've seen these before in one form or another. If you make any to get rid of, please let me know.
