''J. NFR'' signature on top barrel flat

Anyone familiar with the signature ''J. NFR''. Possibly of VA origin. Supposedly an original flint that has been converted.

Dennis,
The signature on that rifle is J.M.R. not JNFR. Stands for James M. Rinehart of Hampshire County (W)VA.  Auctioneer read it wrong. As far as being original flint, I think maybe the lock plate was once flint, but the gun has always been percussion.
