Best of Show winner at Dixon's
« on: October 01, 2008, 12:32:44 AM »
Okay here is the thread that I posted a while back with photos of Dad's pistol that just won Best of Show at Dixon's.  If you want other views please let me know...

Thought you guys might like to see what Dad has been up to this summer, so here are some photos of his latest creation.  Yep, it's silver mounted with a charcoal blued barrel.

I saw this pistol on his workbench back in May. It's always great to view the work of masters. Just wish you would of included more pictures.  ... Geo.

I took pics of this pistol but I think yours are better.  It was cool to see the gun finished but without engraving in the spring and then see the engraving at the fall shoot.  I'll look through mine to see if I have any that show a different angle, but expect your photos will be hard to improve upon.

Jim,  heck of a job!

I always enjoy seeing Mr. Chamber's work. I cannot however admire his craftsmanship without thoughts of the kind gentleman's personality. Just makes the fine arm even better.

Someone asked about a close up of the tang screw.  I'm sorry this isn't closer, but it's the only pic I have that comes close.

Now he has to build another, and if the Guild can interchange the parts, he will be considered for the coveted Master's title. At least thats what I learned at the Herman Dean collection in the Huntington WV Art museum looking at the cased pistol sets. Often mistakenly call "deuelling pistols".

Now to my recollection, since they are generally both right handed this makes them a pair instead of a brace. Or is it the other way around?

Just being flippant from my weekly beer ration, what beautiful art.

The barrel has been charcoal blued.

Nope it wasn't at Bowling Green this year, but it will be at the CLA.

Looks a lot better than the average charcoal blue.  Very difficult to do that well.
