Horn/Five bands/Pewter-Antler Tip

This one is about 12” around the outside curve. The Walnut base is hallowed out it is about 2 ¼” and held in by four steel pins that also hold the band on. The tip is antler and the collar is pewter. The tip sits about halfway into the collar the horn fits up into the other half. The antler is pinned to the collar with three steel pins and the collar is pinned to the base with the same. Each band has three steel pins holding it on. All colored with AF.

Very nice Tim. I like the pewter/antler tip. Working with pewter is something that I haven't tried yet; looking at your work just gives me inspiration.

You're really getting into those pewter tips Tim. It's always easy to get it and can be any size it needs to be.

How did you darken the pewter?

How did you darken the pewter?
Four or five coats of Birchwood Casey Super Blue, rubbed lightly with 0000 between coats and the last. Then Brown shoe polish and buff.

That's a neat trick Tim. Great idea. May have to try that.
