Shaves--and Planes
« on: April 15, 2011, 06:00:38 AM »
If you don't know the name "Hock," you should. Makers of great blades, irons, and cutters. Here's a link to their page for spokeshaves. They have replacement blades for metal shaves that will greatly improve performance. Same goes for their plane blades, both replacement and for making wood-bodied planes. All my shop made planes have Hock steel.

I'm partial to the wooden shaves. Hock makes two sizes of blades for wood shaves. See also the links to instructions on how to make the wooden part of the tool.

They have some carving tools that ought to be the bees knees, given the quality of their other products. BTW, I have no relationship with them other than being a satisfied customer.
