What a great Bedford! This is a fine example of the rifles made by Daniel Border and it is in very fine condition. It has all of the attributes that typifies a Bedford County Rifle, long, slender, nice furniture and inlays, good wood, the hand made lock, and the elegant appearance that we expect from a good gun out of this school.
==============================================================
The gun appears to have been cleaned up, but is a very nice example of a percussion era Bedford rifle with a great barrel signature. The geometrical finial on the later style patchbox with separated side leaves is not the norm, but the gun has numerous Bedford details, making it an excellent example for the museum.
