Need help ID'ing markings on H LEMAN rifle
« on: November 09, 2008, 11:42:49 PM »
Pixked up a nice full stocked H Leman rifle yesterday at the Tulsa gunshow that is in really nice condition.  The rifle is signed on both the barrel and the lock.  The rifle has a 48-inch barrel (.30-caliber) which is the longest that I have seen on one of his rifles.  Everything appears to be original to the rifle, including the faux curl striping and finish.  Not sure about the ram rod though.  Anyway, there is a "star burst" stamped behind the trigger guard and I haven't seen this marking on his rifles before.  I have seen US, but not this.  If any of you has any information on the meaning of this marking, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.  Attached are a couple of pictures of the rifle and the marking.  Thanks.
