« on: August 09, 2012, 09:58:50 AM »
Anyone ever heard of a builder by the name of Worly?

I will have more details later.  I could not make out the city where he built at, but he barrel does have a proof mark. Saw this one at antique/pawn shop.

Awhile back someone on here or somewhere was talking about John Sheets from Staunton using barrels made by some guy named Worly or maybe Worley,Worely??? That may be English, since it has proofs.

Proof mark was a dot over a P with an A or a diamond.

No sure how my comment about the Miller/Worly barrel wound up on the Angstat thread, but it happened.  One of those ether miracles, probably.

I will have to go back to the store to take pictures of the stamping.

On another note, the stock is cracked around the lock mortise and has an added piece of curly maple to finish the last 16 or so inches of the forestock.  Not sure if it was a repair or what? I will get back down there next week.  I have some photos but want to get them posted all at the same time.

The dimensions are:
LOP 13 7/16"
Wrist Height 1 1/2"
Wrist width 1 1/8"
Barrel Length 32 7/16"
15/16" across the flats
Drop at heel is 3 3/8"

Hope this helps a little to those that are interested. This is helping me with my research and building as well.
