Hi All, I thought I would give you the low down on our Inaugural Table Shoot held at Coon's Farm in Indiana sat. The weather cooperated with sunny skies, lite wind and temps. that hit a balmy 40. We had 14 shooters from IN and OH show up with there under 13# tack drivers. There where 3 practice shots and 10 for score. Measuring from center of ball to center of X. The top ten shots had cash payback and started at .057"--.167" The top shooter also had choice of two shooting boxes with 8th place getting the second. A good time was had by all and nobody went home hungry! This type of shoot is meant to be for young,old,female and anybody else that wants to come out and shoot and enjoy the fellowship of other shooters. Our next shoot is May 18 so come one, come all!

We shoot 30 paces

Coon's Farm is near Connersville IN in south eastern IN. Actually 6 miles south of Glenwood IN

Mike,
When talking with Robin we discussed sights and he said that "rear" peeps were acceptable. I see in the pictures of Ron loading he is using his chunk gun sights and shader. Which is it, or s it either?

Either, with the peeps we are hoping to draw the "mature" shooters.

Hi Mike. Am I right in assuming that you shot 10 one shot targets? Also, do you have a rule about where a peep sight has to be mounted, that is, would a tang sight be acceptable?

Okieboy, yes we shoot 10 one shot targets that are slipped behind each persons individual spotter. Just like chunk gun. So we had 14 shooters x 10 shots each equals 140 targets to score and the top 10 scores won cash and prizes. So a guy (BIG IF) could theoretically shoot the top 10 scores (Not likely). But after looking at the targets awhile you could tell the real good ones from the not so good so not all the targets were scored. The top score was (I believe).057 and the got larger to number 10 was .163

Not to bad for the first time. I expect the scores to get even smaller as we all fine tune our equipment!

M-H, yes he did and actually placed 7th and 9th and got the 2nd box! Peep sights!

At Bloomsdale they don't bother scoring anything that doesn't cut center of the X, so with a .45 you would have to shoot .225" to be scored.

Lutes and others, the table is made out of 2x12. The short front end is 4' long and the part where you rest your elbow is 7' long. (could be shorter like 6'). It stands 30" high. The 2x4 barrel rest starts with a piece 38" long and each consecutive board is 5" shorter. With a total of 6 boards high. They are all nailed together but the whole thing is able to slide around on the "T" to suite each individual shooter.

I'm really missing these types of shoot's. A lot of them in Mich are gone. We still have quit a few,but I'm getting a traveling bug latley!

Not at all! I get out quite a bit during the winter. I'm fortunate in that I live in a very rural area,my neighborhood has 4 full time resident's,and we are right on Lake Huron,or what's LEFT of it!

I just want to make up time I've missed from having to work weekend's all those years.

I got to Freindship for the first time this past spring,and HOLY COW!!!!!! I walked around in a trance!

So I'm interested in "getting out".

To All interested,

The reason I like this shoot is because you don't need much. Just a under 13# gun and supplies to be able to shoot 13 shots and your golden! Maybe a spotting scope and donate a bit of food if you want or prizes. We eat and socialize as we are shooting. The comfortable pace makes it quite enjoyable!

Pathfinder and others, there is camping (primative) space available and poto pots. Your welcome to come in the day before and camp out!
