Penny Knife
« on: March 17, 2013, 04:30:51 AM »
Here is a simple little penny knife that I put together to test some blister steel I made. Not sure whether blister steel would have been used for an inexpensive knife, or if they would have refined it to shear steel first, but figured it would be an interesting project.

Rosewood handle is about 4.25" long and tapers down to .700 at the bolster. I loosely patterned it after some of the originals I have seen online. There were a few things I would do different, but overall it seems to have come out OK.

Hello, the handle is about 4.25" long and tapers from about .950 to about .700 over the length. The blade itself is 1/16" thick at the front and tapers towards the tip and has a flat grind. The bolster is made from .020" sheet steel and the pin is 1/8" casehardened mild steel with the ends annealed.
