On August 17/18 at the Andalusia AL Gun and Knife Show we plan to have an exhibit of rifles made by the late Frank Bartlett. I am coordinating this exhibit. At the present it looks like we will 25 to 30 of Frank's rifles on display.
This will be an opportunity for people in south Alabama and surrounding areas to see some of Frank's outstanding rifles. We hope to expand this into a bigger exhibit of antique and contemporary longrifles if there is enough interest.
If you have an interest in contemporary longrifles it will be worth the time and trouble to attend. Not many opportunities like this in the deep south. Tim Cosby

Don I too regret that the Andalusia Gun Show is in conflict with the  CLA show this is just the historical dates for both shows. When I was at the CLA show in 2009 I talked with several people about such a display at the CLA didn't generate much interest. Frank made rifles for several of us in south central AL. We decided ar the last show to showcase Frank's work by displaying the rifles in this area. Most of the people attending the show would not attend the CLA in Lexington just too far to travel for most of them. I planned on going to the CLA but was asked to coordinate getting the rifles for this display. Life is ful of choices. It will still be a fine display of a great craftsman's work. Frank and I were friends for years hunted together and often visited each other. I feel fortunate to have called him a friend. Frank's son Lynn plans to attend and bring the family's rifles if his work schedule will allow. Tim Cosby

Tim.....yes, it is too bad that they clash.  I was a good friend of Frank also, made a lot of barrels for him.  Always enjoyed his
phone calls, every one included a good joke.  It was fun when he came to Friendship, somewhat like the pied piper, always
had a bunch of guys around listening to his yarns.  He was a great guy, as well as being a very prolific gun builder.......Don

Don,
Frank Bartlett once told me he took Viagra and then Ginko Biloba to
help him remember why the took the Viagra. You're right,I think I even
heard Ralph Marcum's dog laugh when he told that one.

while I have enough Bartlett stories to write a book I'll just share this one. At the annual,AL Muzzleloading shoot Frank fixed a big big pot of chili for everyone. After the first chili eating several of the women confided to Frank that they found his chili to hot (Frank liked spicey chili). The next year Frank cooked the same jumbo pot of hot spicey chili. He then brought out a smaller pot when no one was looking filled it from the big pot and put a sign by it that said "ladies chili" .The women ate it with gusto and told Frank how much they appreciated.him cooking two pots of chili. He replied with a smile that he was more than happy to
do it.

Just a reminder that the display of longrifles built by the late Frank Bartlett will be August 17 & 18  at the Andalusia Gun and Knife show. Anyone within driving distance of Andalusia Al wanting to see some great contemporary longrifles built by a talented gunsmith sould attend. At present we have over 30 of Frank's rifles to display. we will have rifles built by Frank ranging from jaegers to Voglers. The copy.of Rezin Bowie's rifle featured on the May 1993 cover of Muzzle Blasts will be there. Also displayed will be TN rifles and some of Frank's best Lancaster rifles. The show.will be in the Kiwanis building just south of Andalusia. Admission is $5.00. See you there. Tim

Now I know the source of folks asking me why I was at the CLA when I had told people I would be at this AL show! If you read it you will see its a notice that I posted for Tim Cosby (not Admin/horn maker Tim Crosby) about the show.

I just post his information about the AL show! I was beginning to wonder if I was getting more forgetful than I really am! I could not figure out what would have given ALR members thoughts that I would be in AL instead of KY (CLA)!

We had approx. 50 of Frank's rifles on display yesterday.  An impressive show of one man's work.
