Rifle barrel stamped .TWINN.

  Has anyone heard of this maker.  36 5/8 inch  40 cal. percussion  barrel. 1 1/4 flat to flat. Found near Marion Alabama.   Thanks in advance.

The gun may be by Thomas Winn, or T. Winn, who was born in KY, moved to IN, then to IL working as a gunsmith in the 1830s-1860s. Shelby Gallien

Shelby   I had found several Winn's in the Marion Alabama area but the way it is stamped I didn't think Winn was correct. As I typed it there is a period before the complete stamping and also after it.There is no space between the T and theW but I can find no gunsmith listing for TWINN. It's a very short,heavy barrel full stock,three barrel keys and a beautiful long "National Road patchbox with weeping heart cutouts. No lock,no trigger assy and no trigger guard.Looks like it's been laying in a pile of you know what for the last 150 years. Again Thank you for your help   George
