New evedence that magnification was in use in the early 1700's

I was flipping through my photos and came across this engraving on a french pistol side plate and it made me stop and look again. It looks too much like a set of Magnavisor's to let it pass with out sharing. Tom this could be one of your Iron hatted cousins sans the Horns.  ;D

From the crest on top, I'm guessing it's a helmet.
