Walnut and horn compass
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:28:25 PM »
Here's a compass box I turned from some walnut that Ron Luckenbill gave me.  The horn is a nice slice I had left over and was thick enough to add some detail.  The coin is a (repro) 1804 half penny (amazing to think that it had some value at one time).

Hi Brookville,

Very nice work, indeed!  Where do you get the compasses you are using?

I buy the compasses via amazon.com.  Enter "antique compass" and scroll a couple of pages and you'll find them.  They're about $6.00 each and not bad for the money.  The compass is about 2" dia.

If you're ever in the mood to sell some, I'd take one without pause...a beautiful piece.

Thanks so much for the nice and encouraging compliments. I have not made anything for sale, yet.

I recently gave this compass to a good friend who inspires me to do better work.
