Thanks for your help.

Neat looking box. Is it iron?

It is iron. I have seen the same box on many different rifles from flint up through the percussion era. I would like to include this on my next rifle but only if I can verify that the time period is correct. So...I would like to know if anyone here knows when Tryon started selling ready made parts, specifically this box.
Thanks
Kevin

Thanks. From what I could gather it appears that Tryon wasn't selling parts until at least the mid 1830's. That being the case the box pictured would be too late. The box pattern is used somewhat frequently the form of each that I've seen pictures of being identical or nearly so. I just haven't been able to pin down this style box to a specific year of origin.
Thanks
Kevin
