j b wood half stock

My neighbor stopped the other day with a half stock percussion about 40 caliber which is marked bishop on the lock and  jb wood on the muzzle . these are the only markings I can find . does anyone have any info on jb wood . I'll try to get some pictures soon   thanks for any info

The NYS Firearms Trade (Swinney/Rowe) cites a Joshua B. Wood in Cincinnatus (NY) in 1860 and Norwich (NY) in the mid to late 1860's.  It is noted that he would put serial numbers and dates on his guns.
If you could post photos, that would be helpful.

What time period rifle is it? The reason I ask is that there was a John Wood/s that was an iron monger in western NC circa 1820's. Might be him or one of his sons. He probably moved to Howard County, Missouri. Quite often men connected to Iron furnaces also had connections to gun making.

Probably can tell from the looks of the rifle if its NC rifle.
