Double rifle question
« on: January 23, 2015, 09:24:12 PM »
I am wondering if the left barrel of this rifle would fire consistently given the distance between the cap/nipple and
the location of the powder?

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

I think the answer would be yes (it would fire reliably).  Many over/under firearms were made in this manner.  The less complicated version has an extension welded to the nose of the hammer on the left gunlock and a standard drum and nipple on the lower barrel.  The cheaper method is more direct, but not quite as pretty.  My Beretta over/under 12 ga. shotgun works reliably now that the holes are all aligned properly.
