Jacob Kuntz at Winterthur
« on: February 26, 2015, 02:05:53 PM »
On March 1 an exhibit called “A Colorful Folk: Pennsylvania Germans and the Art of Everyday Life” opens at Winterthur in Delaware. The exhibit will include an "extraordinary pair of flintlock pistols with silver mounts made about 1810 to 1820 by celebrated gunsmith Jacob Kuntz of Philadelphia." Here's an article on the exhibit:

This is truly a fantastic museum of early Americana. We used to visit often when we lived in Delaware. Part of Winterthur's  collection is a great pair of Zorger flint pistols that you should also see......

Yes, a great museum. An exhibit a couple of years ago included both the Oerter Griffin rifle and the Andreas Albrecht coffee mill.
