Mike Brooks Built Virginia
« on: June 05, 2015, 06:36:58 PM »
,,,,          Here is Mike Brooks showing off my first custom flintlock. Mike did an outstanding job on this 45 caliber 42" swamped Green Mountain barrel, Jim Chambers large siler, Davis triggers. Mike is GREAT to work with and I am very pleased with his work! Greg.  :)

!@*%&@ handsome fella ain't I. ;D
This is a project for Greg who is a local guy. It is a Pecatonica Virginia kit and I was just supposed to put in the barrel and lock. I had a small slot open in my schedual while I was waiting for stocks with barrel inlets to arrive so I offered to build the whole thing for Greg and he agreed, the rest is history. It has a really exceptional piece of wood in it so I couldn't resist building it.

That's too bad. My first wife was great. Not a cross word in four years of marriage. She up and R-U-N-N-O-F-T on our 4th anniversary and I never saw or heard from her again. ::)     (Must have been lookin for answers....  ;) )

Don't have to worry about this fine rifle EVER running off. When I'm done then it will be passed on down to my son to enjoy and put meat in the freezer for him and his future family. Some guns deserve to be heirlooms and this is one of them.    Greg

Mike built a RIFLE ??? I thought everything he worked on was SMOOTH! Looks pretty good.

Greg don't wait too long to hunt with it. Plenty of vermin around to practice with. Groundhogs, bottles, skunks, mosquitos, coons, skinks, cans, coyotes, rats,....yep, the Mosquitos are that big this year.

Glad to here it shoots well.
Although known as a notorious smooth bore maker I probably build about 50-50 rifles and smooth bores.

So I guess that means it is rifled from breech to mid point, then smooth from there to the muzzle, right!
