Where to get tow?
« on: June 27, 2015, 01:41:45 AM »
I'd like to try tow wadding (over powder and over the round ball) in my 20ga. trade gun, but don't know where to purchase it.  Any assistance will be appreciated!

There's a vendor over on Ebay that will sell you a pound for $18  (do a search on "Tow Flax").   And,the search function on this site should turn up some other sources, maybe at better prices.    There was discussion 6 months or so ago here,  and somebody identified a source  who sold weaving supplies  and who carried tow.

As others, I got my pound on Ebay and as I only use it for cleaning (and it's quite re-usable), probably have a lifetime supply on hand already.

But then flaxseed is so nutritious that I plan to grow my own soon.

Townsend sells a bag about half the size of a loaf of bread for about $5. It's worth that much just to get on their mailing list.

Thanks for those recommendations, fellas!  At least I now know where to look.  Btw, has anyone ordered tow from Silver Shuttle Yarns in the Memphis area?

All, I'm happy to say Silver Shuttle is a going concern as I received an email from the owner, Susan Wallace, a little while ago. :)
