Grinder make-over from Bob Roller
« on: October 17, 2015, 08:48:18 PM »
A while ago, Bob sent me these images of an adaptation he made for a bench grinder.  I hope he'll see this and comment.

It's a rainy afternoon project I call my final descent into madness.
In reality I thought a multi use grinder would be an idea someone without
a lot of room or money for motors and mandrels could use. I am NOT going to make
these to sell but if anyone wants to use the idea,go for it. The Jacobs chuck was an
after thought. This grinder is a 40 year old Rockwell and the shafts from the motor
are 1/2x20 left and right. The shafts were made from one inch hexagon 1018 that
I had from a long forgotten project and I also made the special nuts from it.
This thing runs smooth and takes a while to unwind when the power is turned off
but that's not a problem.
Thanks again to Taylor for his help in getting this idea on the forum if for no other reason
than a laugh.

No clamps have ever come loose unless I loosen them. This thing runs smooth
and makes a good work station for grinding AND polishing.

Joe S,
Thanks for the endorsement of my multi tasking grinder.
As I said earlier, anyone that wants to use this idea or come up with improvements
on it then go for it. This one is a cobbled up thing but it works and works well for me.

Looks like a good use for all those rusty Spanish barrels everyone has laying around.

Red Green is a comedic representation of a DIY'er or handy-man who always falls back on duct tape as his major method of construction.  Dial some up on the youtube.
