I started with a H&R break open muzzle loader in 1973. It was a 45 and shot very well and I killed several deer with it. Then my wife bought me a TC Hawken kit in .50 cal for my birthday. I really liked the gun and still have it but it has a GM barrel and an apature sight now. Then I bought a Lyman GP flintlock. I couldn't get the thing to shoot every time I pulled the trigger. I did everything I knew about to the lock and finally bought a L&R replacement lock and now it shoots great and is very accurate with round balls. Then I redid a TC renegade into a long range ml. Used a fast twist GM barrel made for a 45 70. I put a globe sight on the front with a spirit level on the front and a long range ladder sight on the tang with a Hadley eye cup. I have only shot it to 600 yards and got a 7 1/2" 5 shot group. Now I am redoing another renegade into a .58 flintlock with a 36" barrel. Also collecting parts for a southern mountain rifle flinter. Yep those starter rifles sure do multiply.
