Tim, that is a particularly nice looking rifle; the kind I like to take to the woods with.  And that young buck will fill up all those hollow spaces in your freezer.

Ended up the season with the one bear and two whitetails with the flinter this year.  One deer was a WT doe, the other this 3 year old 6.  He was never much for rack and was a bully, so he had to go so my better deer can stay and grow for next year.   90g FF, .570 ball.

Osprey sounds like you had a fine season. Looks like the old mean buck met a much meaner flint rifle.😊

Feral Hog hunting on the Suwannee River in Levy County Florida.  The one on the left (304 pound sow) I shot with a flintlock rifle I built a few years ago and using a .495 round ball and 80 grains of 2fg Olde Eynsford.  The one of he right (188 pound boar) was shot by a friend with a caplock rifle using a .495 round ball and 80 grains of 3fg GOEX.  Now the real work begins.

Good looking bunch of porkchops. Congrats to you and your friend.  I hog hunt a little during the off months. Really won't start til May after turkey season. They are fun to hunt but are a really destructive animal in the wild. You kill them with dogs, stalk hunting, or another method. Tim

Tim,

I hunt them by sitting in a likely spot or spot and stalk.  The land owner has some dogs but doesn't use them for hog hunting.

Tagged out pretty quick here for turkey season, killed a jake at home with my 16 ga smoothbore, then killed one at our muzzleloading club the next day with the modern shotgun - rainy, foggy day - but used all my own calls I make.

Very nice turkeys, and GORGEOUS gun!  I love it!!  And self-made calls you say?  That's impressive.

I shot at least two with this pistol before I traded it off. One was supper when I was horse packing.

Shot a lot of stuff before I started carrying a camera and even then a many of them are not digital. Carried a little 35mm for awhile....

Matt..You are living right!..Outstanding 2017 turkey season! Take a bow!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thur. may 4 th 5 pm. 2017 spring turkey season Minnesota..farm land

Had 2 monster toms doing the puff up shuffle into my set up....

took and hour for them to get to 40 yards..I was a wreck in anticipation..

With the gun up waiting for them to close in to under 30 yards I hear and catch movement out my left eye.

turkeys..5 more toms 9 inch or better flanking me in my brushed in wooded point hide..

They were coming to join the fray!

swing left with the flinter and pick the 4 th bird..gotta wait for separation..touched off and all I see is the biggest cloud of

smoke with zero wind..... immediately start my internal chant "please be down"-"please be down" etc...

.finally smoke clears and its

turkey dinner time!

Using my first bp fowler ....a  12 ga.t/c New englander i converted to flintlock.

Great birds guys!  Congrats to all.

Matt, you did really good on your pics, obvious you put some effort into the setup and camera work!

I'd love to get on that longhuners site, but for some reason it seems to never work for me.  Don't expect much here at home on the older computer and dialup connection, but even on a newer laptop and wifi I can't get that site to work at all.  :(
