saw handle pistol

Does anyone have any references, photos of a saw handle pistol? I,v spent several hrs. on the computer and haven,t came with much.

little joe; Sir , book "duelling pistols" by John A. Atkinson published by Stackpole Book (Printed by Balding + Mansell, London and Wisbech, England 1964. USA January 1966. Colored picture page 79. "flint". Text pages #74 and #75. These (2) two pages also show 12 inch long by 5 inch high photo. Also page 96 shows (2) two additional colored "percussion" saw handles.

Antigue Flintlock and Percussion Pistol Patterns has a full size drawing of one,
i just cut out a stock from it, email me I can get you a copy of it,
or i can trace the drawing if you cant find it

I just Googled "Antique Flintlock and Percussion Pistol Patterns" and drew a blank.  Is this a publication of some sort that contains drawings?  If so, do you know where I can get a copy?  Thanks.

no idea where to get one
had mine since late 70s
has several full size pistol patterns

If you are interested in shooting one, Thompson Center made a sawhandle pistol named Patriot, but it has been discontinued, so only available on the used market.  Traditions currently makes one named Trapper.  The amount of sawhandle is minimal, and the pistols do not match any specific historical style.

Do a search of "sawhandle pistol" for a bunch of stock photographs of original and contemporary pistols.

British makers Parker, and Wogdon, both made fine saw handled dueling pistols. The T/C Patriot and the even uglier CVA clone, can barely be called a true saw handle design, since they just have a lump on the grip instead of the straight back tang, and undercut pocket for near perfect grip. The original guns are a pleasure to shoot, and point almost perfectly.

Here is the link to a copy of a Billinghurst from Germany. They were written up in Muzzle Blast and at Friendship one year. Am presently working on one but going slow, slow, slow. Lay it out full scale make a pattern and copy on a peace of cheap wood and work on it until it fits your hand, Then go for good on your final choice of wood. Good luck.

I wonder how many IF any of Tilo Dedenski's guns are in the USA?
I have been asked to make flintlocks with the external mainspring
but have NO interest in any odd projects now.

The closest thing to a saw handle pistol, that I like the looks of, is a TC Patriot. It doesn't look like anything traditional, but I have always thought that a larger version of that style, done in a maple stock, with larger barrel, would be a one of a kind, with beautiful lines. Kentucky pistols can look good with the right curvature, but saw handles have to be really dressed up to look good. The one in the picture does look nice.

Just thinking.................... ???
