I am not aware of a Verner blueprint maybe someone else can help you there. I will say that the best pictures of the A Verner rifle are found in Dave Hansen's book " An Intimate Look At THE AMERICAN LONGRIFLE It's Art and Evolution. Dave gives great measurements of this rifle and all the other great rifles in this book. Some of these may be of interest to you if you are building a close copy of the Verner rifle. I was surprised that the barrel at the breech is only .950 on this rifle and seven inches down the barrel tapered to .720 and back to .847 at the muzzle. Much smaller than I would have guessed from pictures. Tim

Give Jack Brooks a call.  (Sorry, don't have his contact info at hand, but if you do a search, you can find it). He has, or had, plans for a Bucks Co. rifle that was originally attributed to Verner.  Consensus now has it attributed to an "unknown", but it's very "Verner".

You could just draw a pattern out. That's what I'd do.

As I am sure you are aware Golde Age Arms is no longer in business.  The former owner James R. Johnston has continued in the trade by publishing some great books. He recently published Accoutrements IV. His contact number is 614.507.5272. Good luck with your quest. Tim

I have a gun made from a pre-carved stock that Jim had Bob Lepllie duplicate form an original that he had.
If you would like I could trace it and send it to you; at least you would have the profile of it.

Taylor could possibly help, but he's out fishing right now - be home soon.
I have the Verner he built. 48" barrel - this one in .50 - original Taylor patterned was a .46 or .47 IIRC.

I've made quite few BC LRs from a cardboard template of the buttstock of a Shuler in RCA, vol 1 by tracing over the largest view of the buttstock and then enlarging it on the computer until it had some of the dims spec'd in the book.

Have used this template for a layout many times but have slightly changed the curve of the Bplate a few times which did change the Bplate profile....reformed the Bplate to make it flatter..

Often wondered as to how many BC LRs Verner made w/ a straight combline? Most BC LR makers had a curved combline on their LRs...or am I mistaken?.

Often wished I could make them as Taylor does, but my wishes don't come true. What triggerguard is used on Taylor's Verner?. I use Goehring's no 47 which is a Verner but then I make it into a shuler.....Fred

Capper,
I have built the gun the Taylor did which is the same as shown in Dave Hansen's book.  I have an outline of that signed Verner that I made directly for Dave's gun when he was photographing the guns for the book.  I can provide you a copy of the outline.  Reaves Goehring has the hardware.  Shuler hardware and Verner hardware are distinctly different.  Verner did not use thumbnails on his hardware and there are other differences as well.  If you would like the outline send me an e-mail the address is in my profile.
