Sheldon marked lock

Well not quite a rifle, but an original lock I found on ebay for the princely sum of $26 shipped. I have seen a few examples of this type of lock on such as the Pererson Hawken, and some other early percussion rifles. Can anyone tell me about this lock and where it might have originated? The stamped engraving looks pretty similar to that found on Goulcher locks. Any info is appreciated.
