Almost finished
« on: December 08, 2016, 01:00:00 AM »
I am almost finished with a Boutet style pistol.  I want to thank Bob Roller, Ed Rayle for their fine products.  Thank you David Rase for a perfect barrel channel and ramrod inlet.  Peter Dyson, you supplied some mighty fine steel furniture.
I still have to install the front sight, make a ramrod and do some scratching on the side plates

Also, I have not drilled the vent.  Trying to decide on "white lightning" or slightly larger vent than standard..

Well, now, ain't THAT nice!

That should be one heck of a shooter. Great Job, Ed.

It really needs checkquering, in my opinion.

Very crisp wood work on your part. Keep us informed, please.

I am a horrible checkerer.  I agree that it should be done but not by me.

Very nice pistol.  I'd go with the white lightning vent and enlarge it if ignition proves to be unreliable.

Ed has been wanting me to make him an internal coning tool for about 2 years now.  After seeing the pistol I am feeling a bit guilty and may have to break down and make him one before the end of the year.  I am sure I can clear a couple of hours in my schedule.  :-[

Beautiful job, excellent workmanship. I like the fact it is a little different, not a run of the mill pistol, yet with nice proportions and lines. Very elegant. I agree with the comments about checkering but I am with California on this, checkering is sort of a specialty and I am not that specialist!  Especially with the very fine checkering that would look best on such a nice piece of wood.

Ed,
Thank you for sending these pictures. That Boutet representation is every bit as good a
the versions made in Germany.I seldom see the uses of locks I have made and am proud of
the final fate of this one.
I am finishing what may be my last small Manton today and have only the springs to finish.

Thanks again for the pictures.

Very fine! Ya done good Ed. The only thing I can think of to improve that pistol is for you to make another just like it and have a cased set.

Yep,

That would make it about twice as good ...   ;D
