Authentic or Replica????

First post here guys. I've got some pics of a muzzle loader from my boss that he had gotten from his father in law. We are looking for finding out if this is authentic or a replica gun. Also, any leads as to where we can take the gun to have it evaluated would be appreciated. We live in NE Ohio but get into Columbus and PIttsburgh besides Cleveland.

It looks like since I'm new I can't attach the pics so I will provide another link to another site where I also posted the pics. I hope that's ok.

I agree with the previous replies, nicely made older contemporary piece.  Are you near Lodi, Ohio?  The Log Cabin Shop may be able to tell you more about the gun if you take it to them.  They have been there for years and may recognized the maker.

Be careful.  If you spend much time around these old guns you will get hooked.

Gotcha guys!

We will be taking down to Lodi within the next week or two to get a firm answer. Will let you know what we find out. If I have time tonight I will try and post the pics here. Thanks for the help.

I'm sure that's a Russ Hamm lock. I have one just like it.  I'll bet its a Douglas Barrel.  Great gun for the period. I like it.
