Range rod

I'm wondering what ya'll might suggest for a range rod? I am building a .36 44" barrel gun. I have a Delrin rod for my .50 but can't seem to find anything for a .36?

I agree... Rice makes a great stainless range rod at a great price.

Bottom of the page, $20.

I have the Rice Range Rod which is well worth the price they charge.  I use it for different calibers and it works great.

I'm going to order another Rice rod for smaller calibers.  I have the 3/8" which is great for .45 and up, but a bit too tight for .40 caliber (I don't want to rub the lands).

Track of the Wolf also has them.  Get a nice delrin or nylon muzzle protector.

Rice's range rod comes with a Delrin muzzle protector. I love mine.

I buy 48" brass rod stock and tread on a 1-1/4" solid brass drawer knob. Cheap, easy, works for me.

Kermit, how much flex do you get with that brass rod?

I can also think of a few times pulling a ball with no powder under it (ooops).

It may be fine, but I wonder how much stress brass threads can take?  Not knocking it, just wondering.

I use a stainless rod with a Delrin muzzle protector to keep the rod off the muzzle and rifling, so the material doesn't worry me as much as the strength.

Many thanks,   Marc

My range rods are used almost exclusively for loading at the range. As to flex, i have a brass rod I made for loading my .25 cal squirrel rifle, and I can assure you, it's less whippy than the hickory rod that gets used afield.
