"Pennsylvania Dutch" long rifle

Hi, I just purchased this kind of unusual unsigned long rifle. Any thoughts on its origin or maker are appreciated. Gun should be delivered in a week or so, and I can take more pictures then if requested. Thanks in advance. Brent

Brent,
Is there a signature on the rifle?

No signature on the gun and the photo composite was done by the dealer, which was pretty nice, I thought. Really like the new photo posting app, by the way.

That rifle tempted me. Lots of nice work on it. Ohio origin?

Hi Buck, what attributes on the rifle make you think West Virginia? The seller called it "Pennsylvania Dutch" which I think might bias comments. I've been looking at Pennsylvania Dutch iconography and am not making any connections yet. So let's hear it for West Virginia, or Ohio or
??

Brent,
The round cheek rest and the short wrist is what made me think West Virginia or Ohio.

Anybody ever seen a square bolster like this one, plus the nipple sticks almost straight up.

The inlays on the cheek, and below are very common Dutch, or German, patterns. Some of the engraving is reminiscent of Pennsylvania folk art. I would say it likely was made in Pennsylvania, or was made by someone trained there.

I think the bottom picture was inspired by Michael Jackson doing a Pepsi commercial with his hair on fire, definitely post 1980's......

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?
