Sheet metal thickness
« on: June 25, 2017, 07:58:52 AM »
I am working on a pistol and leaning towards using nickel silver...want real silver...but not keen on the price right now and knowing I may "learn" and make some mistakes and may need to replace some..

Anyways, finding parts in nickel silver is a bit tough.  Namely the side plate and nose cap. Could go various directions and pour a pewter nose cap and use a different side plate etc but leaning towards attempting to make a side plate and nose piece from nickel silver sheet.  I've found a trigger guard and thimbles I like.

Anyway, I see various tutorials and I'm not sure what thickness to order.

Also, I am assuming nickel silver will work similar to brass?  Anneal it to keep it soft and workable?

Thanx!

Anneal just like brass. Google Tennessee Valley Manufactoring. You can view their online catalog then call Jack. He will be glad to answer any questions you have. He can usually supply whatever thickness you will need in German silver. He also carries Gs parts. Hope this helps.    Bob
