Suggestions on using bone black
« on: August 01, 2017, 01:20:58 AM »
Have never used bone black in the finishing process on a longrifle.   Would welcome any thoughts or ideas.   Jim Kibler has some notes on this on his web site, which I have read    Would it be best to apply to the stained stock with the first coat of finish, or would it be advantageous to apply after the first coat of finish?   I am interested in applying a "little patina", vs staining the stock predominately back.    Thanks a bunch.    Bruce

I'd get 1 or 2 coats of finish on the stock before I would start to consider doing the shading with boneblack.
