This horn is another made from Glenn's scrap box. The body, which I don't think has enough curve, had a failed attempt at external threads. The tip had failed internal threads. I made it into an applied tip.
I wanted to experiment with a spotted horn so the butt is reminiscent of a Berks screw tip. This horn is certainly NOT a Berks.
The spots on a period Berks were done with lead oxide. I wanted to try hair dye. I had already colored the horn with AF. The first attempt came out very pale. I washed the horn very thoroughly with soap and hot water and re applied the dye. After sitting overnight , this is what I got. I used a Q-tip to apply the dye and I'm not happy with the results. Next time I'll use a brush.
Pam made the small strap to go with this horn. Overall I think it has grown on me. I do believe the dye worked well for the spots. more practice will improve the process.
