J Young Barrel
« on: August 27, 2017, 08:05:49 PM »
Has anyone heard of J Young  Mich. City?  I have come across a barrel marked as such.  It's 1 3/16 octagon barrel straight...no taper 31 inches long.  This looks to be a 1/2 stocked barrel.  It still has the under rib on the barrel and it's not screwed on.  The under rib is 20" long.  It looks to be 50 cal.  I can't find my calipers...just scaled it.

I have a small caliber (.27-.28 cal.) half-stock squirrel rifle with a barrel stamped J. Young.  It's my understanding that this J. Young was from Wetzel Cty. W. Virginia.  I think this one might be Joseph and an earlier J. Young might be Jacob.  Don't know if this helps you or not.  James Levy

Thanks Levy.  It gives some idea of where to start looking for more information.  Only thing is that it's stamped Mich. City and I believe that's a different part of the country.  Jesse
