Vogler Project - Client with the rifle
« on: October 13, 2017, 08:31:42 PM »
Here is my current project that is getting close to the finishing stage. I am doing the engraving now and have to finish the butt stock carving before applying stain. I hope to have it completed in a couple of weeks.

Here is the cheek inlay before and after engraving

Here is my Vogler release again thanks Marc.

I have added pictures of the carving and some more of the engraving on this rifle. I am starting the finishing process now and will post pictures of the finished rifle next week.

That’s really nice work. Engraving has always been my Achilles heel.

Very nice. A Vogler is on my "must do" list for the future. I'm doing an Issac Ribelin  right now. Hope to have it done in 3 weeks or so.

That one is coming along super Jim.  I like everything about that patchbox.  The sliver worked in really reflects the Vogler's silversmith work too.  You nailed that slim wrist too.  Do you have the patchbox release working yet?  I cannot wait to see it all done.  I think Christoph would be proud of that one if it had come from his shop.  Best wishes, and God Bless,   Marc

I am always happy to share Jim.  Recall that it is a true Vogler mechanism, and it was shared with me by Blake Stevenson, the director of the Old Salem Vogler Gunshop (among many other tasks).  Sharing it is what this is all about.  :-)   Best wishes, and God Bless,   Marc

Beautiful work Jim. I really like your upper forestock moulding. I am considering adding that feature to my current build. Will have an engraving project for you in the near future.

"Marc I updated this with a picture of the release. I hope that I meet your approval with rendition of this release.  Jim "

I sure hope you were joking.  Since when does the great artist Jim Parker need this goober's approval?   :-)   The release looks like it should work solid for a long time.  I was interested in the variation you made on the spring.  I would think it would work the same overall.  My one note is to not fit the lid so tight that the two sear surfaces do not fully engage.  If just the tips engage, the lid can pop open on recoil.  BTW, love the domed lid with the silver worked in.

The hunting eagle on the cheekpiece and the pick holder look perfect.  Very Vogler.  I can't wait to see this one done.

Super job (as usual) sir.  Best wishes, and God Bless, Marc

Looking Good Jim.  I have a soft spot in my heart for bimetallic mounted guns.  You are doing a great job capturing the essence of Vogler's work.

I can't get over how nice this is.  I live 15 minutes from the site of the Volger shop and therefore fell compelled to try one.  My engraving is not up to that yet.

Fantastic work.
