How do you measure a mainspring?
« on: October 14, 2017, 03:12:42 AM »
Hi all.

Another newbie question:  How do you measure a mainspring?  I am guessing it is from the anchor pin (if that is the correct term) to the end that connects with the tumbler.

I was recently gifted a Russ Hamm lock that is missing the mainspring, and looking through the DGW catalog, I am seeing all these different lengths, and wondering how to apply the numbers to the lock in hand.

CVA mainsprings from their Maslin lock fit most Hamm locks.

I would say you are correct but ,you also have to know the total length or it might interfere with the front screw.
Nobody is always correct, Not even me.
