Both barrels are signed by William Shreckengost. Whats particularly interesting about this rifle  is that it's the only one I've seen with any carving on the stock.  After seeing 70 rifles, I'd come to the conclusion that he didn't carve. Always something new to learn. This also has the only side opening Patchbox I've seen.

Lovely.Far nicer than my one and only swivel.The side pnl's ahead of the buttplate  are beautiful.Have never seen them on a swivel breech.

Nomenclature suggestion:

“Full stocked” swivel breech and German “wender” rifles usually have one-piece fore stocks made with two barrel channels inlet into them with a thin and delicate (frequently 1/8 “ to 3/16”) portion of the stock separating the two channels. I strongly prefer the term “full stocked” for these fine pieces, like this spectacular Wm Shreckengost rifle. If Shreckmeister Rob showed a close-up of the muzzle, that would be apparent.

Many later (percussion, usually) swivel breeches have the barrels fastened together with solder or bow-tie wedges (and frequently with iron, brass, or less commonly German silver ribs). Quite rare ones of those have separate wood “panels” applied between the barrels like ribs. Those can be properly called “full paneled” in my opinion.

Very cool gun. William was an exceptional craftsman. I'm glad he liked to engrave.  His rifles are always a pleasure to see.  It's a shame , though , that you  weren't blessed with his talent . I hope you got the looks !

Nice muzzle shot, Rob. I’ll bet the 6 grooved barrel has straight rifling, and the 7 groove barrel is left hand twist like the other Shreckengost swivels you have pointed me toward.

Ah, yes, JTR. Thanks for the reading lesson   On second look, I know Buck’s gun. I am right about the 6 groove barrel being straight rifled. But the 7 groove barrel in right twist. As is often the case, I stand corrected.
