Banded Horn
« on: November 15, 2017, 05:32:35 PM »
This one is about 14" around the outside curve and 11 tip to tip. The Walnut Butt is held in with Four wooden pegs and is hollowed out about 3/4s its length. The tip is a Two piece pinned together with Three wooden pegs and to the horn with Three more. The band was heated and pressed on and is also held in place by Three wood pegs.

Tim, that is a fine looking piece of work. I am still trying to get my head around beehive plugs but I still don't know. The color is great and your turning is spot on.

I am a super fan of beehive plugs, being from North Carolina.  Note my avatar, taken from early NC paper notes.  All other plugs look a little odd to my eye.  Glad there are so many choices and so many opinions.  The spice of life.

Tim, I like the finish you achieved, and especially that cool plug.   :-)

Best wishes,   Marc

One day, when I finally grow up, I would be happy to make a powder horn that is only half as good as this one.
