Chris Evart flintlock
« on: December 07, 2017, 12:51:07 AM »
Hopefully this is the right place for this.
A little while ago I received my lock from Chris.
To say I am very happy. The lock is as smooth as glass to operate. It also sparks exceptionally well...
Can't wait to build a gun around it...Hopefully the gun I build will be worth of such a excellent lock...

I really like the one I got from him. It is also smooth as glass. The guy knows his stuff. Good luck on your build

I got mine a while ago, nice lock as I figured it would be. Don't have a clue what I'm going to build around it or when.

Mike,
I bet if you started your own topic on "what to build with this lock" you could get some help from the experts on the ALR.

Why not an early Iowa flat land rifle, better known as a EIFL rifle :D

That's probably where it will end up..... :P
We do have hills in Iowa, you just have to know where to look. One of the highest points in the county is right behind my house. Hard to see the top of it....of course I don't see well anymore.... ;)

Come to think on it, I think I'll have weader run one of my fowling gun stocks, I don't have one and I'm going to get the barrel back from him and the stock pattern and call it quits on kits......I ought to have one of those while I still can, I designed  it to fit me as an upland gun!..... ;D I'll even stock it in Iowan Walnut!

I think the F. Klette rifle would be a good inspiration for your build with that lock.  Also the Woodsrunner rifle and RCA 124.

Yep, they seem more like mountains. ;)
Western IA is very hilly as is NW Iowa, anywhere with in miles of the Mississippi. Lost of limestone bluffs. Many of our smaller rivers in NW IA are lined with limestone bluffs as well. Good  trout fishing up there I hear.

Hi Mike,
I am sorry but these are mountains.  My house was at the base of those about 100 yds from the sea.  I was kept awake one night by a humpback whale snoring while sleeping on the surface.  You know life is good when that happens.

I think Mike should really branch out and build a "fusil court en Louisiane" (Louisiana short boat rifle) from the 1770s when Louisiana was ruled by the British.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the kind words. I cannot wait to see what rifles these locks end up in. I have the parts to do another batch, but just haven't had the time yet. Hopefully just after Christmas I can get started on them.

Cheers,

Chris E.
