Good morning. I would suggest James Rogers at:

http://fowlingpiece.blogspot.com/?m=1

....or Eric Ewing at Ewing’s Creek.

Neither produce anything remotely store-bought looking.

Also, haunt the Classifieds here and on CLA. Shooting bags regularly show up for sale.

The above post was poking you. Many folks here consider “possibles bag” to sound like a novice or greenhorn. Trying hunting bag or shooting bag or fowler bag instead.

Best wishes and God bless, Marc

It's impossible to go wrong with either Rogers or Ewing.  Whatever they make is worth every penny and more.  Own their work for enough time and it will ascend to heirloom quality because it's already at museum quality.  You will be able to spec out with them what you want.

That implies figuring out what you want first.  You probably need to go down to Cabelas, buy something off the shelf, fumble around in it enough where you start modifying the product.  Then you'll get to a point where you figure out that you just cobbled Frankenbag.  That's when you go to them  boys

If my Cordwainer vanity did not get in the way  I'd wanna buy something from them.

Eventually, tho, you're gonna want to make your own.

Go for it.

Be careful you don't get a monkey-fisted bag.  I had a really nice bag that I liked a lot, but I sold it because of the its design.

Don't forget Cory joe Stewart. I have a bag from him. Does mighty fine work.
Also if your near Michigan. Take in the Kalamazoo living history show. There's tons of quality bags there. Usually Ken Scott attends. Great maker.
The show is the third weekend of  March. See yeah there...

Neat!  My dad's side of the family are all from the Lebanon/Hanover/Etna area of NH.  Gorgeous country up there.....in the seasons that aren't winter.   ;-)   Heh, heh.   God Bless,   Marc (born in the warm South)

What is a "monkey fisted" bag?

You can get your hand in but when you close it around something you can't get it out.

Comes from "Monkey Jar" they used to have them in penny candy stores.

That is a nice bag, Mike. Good choice.

I bought a double bag from someone on this site for my .32, now a .36 (tight load expanded the barrel some)

Sry - I do not remember who made it.

Dark stained leather, might be elk, double bags and beautifully made.

Check the Accoutrements forum.

I was kidding about the tight load, although I do use snug ones.

Thanks Daryl.

It's a nice bag and overall I'm pleased with it. But I do have a couple small issues with it... The strap is a little longer than I like and I'm over 6 foot. And the strap itself is a combination of two materials (jute and cotton, I think) and tends to rub a little rough around the neck/shoulder area when I wear a thinner shirt in warm weather.

If I remember correctly I can send the bag back to the Leatherman and he will shorten the strap for me... As far as the strap rubbing my shoulder I guess I just need to not be a wimp. Lol

For $25 the Leatherman will add an all-leather strap with buckle for adjustment to your bag.

The jute strap I currently have has the buckle adjustment and I've shortened it as far as possible... Still too long.

But I will consider the leather strap. That may be the best option.

I am the same height as you, and I even with the buckle, I had him remove 4 inches from the leather strap, to get it short enough.  It now hangs where it should on me.

I got mine from a girl called KL Customs House. It was pretty reasonable and I'm very happy with it.  Can find her info if you'd like.

Do these bags hang on your hip...or you like them above your waist ,tight to the body ?
