I've seen some criticize his work  as "crude", but you have to admire Hacker for the man he was ... this is a great looking rifle,... working only with hand tools and making all parts, he kept the muzzle-loading habit alive when there were few builders around, and little money to be made in building,.... This rifle belongs to a friend of mine.  I was surprised that he was going to sell it.  It is one of the finer made Hacker Martin rifles. Some one will be getting a nice rifle made by one the persons who kept black powder shooting alive when not many were interested.  Great piece of history.

Very reminiscent of the rifle pictured by Ned Roberts on page 278 in "The Muzzleloading Cap Lock Rifle". Nice.

Sold for $5,175. The estimate was $2250 to $3500.
