Unicoi County? Can anyone come up with a maker?
« on: April 08, 2018, 06:20:21 PM »
Brass mounted, trigger guard is a commercial guard, butt plate is hand made from two pieces of brass. Tang goes back under the butt plate. 42 inch barrel about 28 or 30 caliber. Front sight has a windage scale, back sight has an elevation adjustment. Most of the original varnish remains. Who made it?

Sights are pretty distinctive, somebody should be able to identify the maker. This gun is in exceptional shape. But, then again, it may have been made in the early twentieth century.

The old mountain folks liked to decorate their guns with what we called a “Bakker tag”.

That is a neat old gun. Glad to see the tobacco tag put to good use.
